Before going to law school, I read some of the leaders of the common law school most law students read. These guidelines promised academic success, as long as I followed the particular strategies outlined. I followed your advice for about half of my time in law school, and is a good thing that does not follow any longer.
As I became more cautious forms of law school, I realized that much of the advice given to students of law is counterproductive. As I walked away from the advice found in the mainstream guides law school, my grades, and most importantly my overall experience law school, has improved dramatically.
Towards the end of my time in law school, and even for some time after my graduation, my friends and I discussed all the mistakes that we had to listen to the general council fool. He often wondered aloud how this board became, illogical and inefficient as much of it is.
Now that I know better after making many mistakes as a law student, I will share with you a common strategy faculty of law with fervor should avoid if you want to do their best in law school. As expected, the majority of law school guides encourage this exact strategy, your academic, financial and social damage.
The strategy I'm talking about is the use of commercial hornbooks and study aids to prepare lessons and exams. As a law student, you should do everything possible to avoid this common mistake, and here are a few reasons why. First, the study of commercially prepared study aid is not an effective strategy for study, since the material in these study aids differs from its course material. The form of study aid materials, this also be different from the way your teacher wants to approach and understand the course material. Contrary to popular belief, you can get all the information you need to do very well on tests of book cases, relevant statutes, and class, without having to study materials. Moreover, the purchase of hornbooks multiplies the number of sources feel that you should study, and only make the learning process more confusing, frustrating and inefficient.
Secondly, commercial hornbooks and study aids are expensive, and the cost of this support is very quick, especially if you think you need for each of their classes.
