The events leading up to my interview with Coach Lou Holtz are no coincidence. I attribute it to the Law of Attraction.
About a month ago, My wife and I bought the Dream Big Collection by Jack Canfield. When we receive the products in the mail, which came with a DVD entitled Living the Law of Attraction.
If you have not heard Jack Canfield present, you're missing. He has a way of remembering and telling stories that inspire everyone in the room.
Jack recalled an interview he conducted with coach Lou Holtz, former legendary football coach of Notre Dame and now a commentator for ESPN. At the time of the interview, the coach had reached 102 of his 107 goals. Among them win a national championship, having dinner at the White House meeting with the Pope, and landing a plane on an aircraft carrier.
Well, that prompted me to get the car for an interview about goal setting. After some emails and through various contacts and assistants I achieved my goal to get a quick interview.
A. I recently saw a video of Jack Canfield give a presentation on Law of Attraction. He said he had scored 107 goals when at 20 and 102 have reached them. What was one of the ultimate goals they met and can be described what happened?
The last was when I was elected to the Hall of Fame College Football in May 2008.
2. What was the name of the book that triggered you to make a list?
The Magic of Thinking Big by David Schwartz.
3. Now that you're older, how has it changed fulfilling their goals when you were younger?
Absolutely. It has taught me to take control of my life and everything that happens to me, good or bad, is because the decisions you make.
4. What is a goal not yet reached and You are going to do today to make it bear fruit?
Unable to speak a second language! I have tapes on how to speak Spanish, but I have not been able to block the length of time necessary to achieve it.
5. As we all know, sometimes the realization of our aspirations involves other people. Being a legendary coach of young athletes, what to do to encourage their players to help achieve the objectives of the coach, the player and the team?
Everyone should have the same goals. In addition, everyone should understand how they will benefit personally when we get to our goals.
6. Can you share some of their tips and techniques used, or have used, in order to make your dreams a reality?
1) Decide what you want achieve and the date.2) What talents should acquire to do this.
3) Who have to work for it.
4) What problems must be overcome to achieve this goal.
5) Have a plan.
6) Share with other people that will benefit.
7. I have heard that only 3% of Americans have a list of measurable goals. What would you say is the biggest barrier for people not reaching their aspirations, or even do a list of goals?
They are not certain, they do not have a goal, have a wish list.
8. What to do when you do not meet an objective it has set?
To find out why and did you hear about it!
9. What goal would you meet that impacted you the most?
Being married to the same woman for 48 years. With all four children graduate of the university, three of Notre Dame and one of Centennial. We are a united family who care about others.
10. What advice would you give to people to set your goals today?
Be realistic, but do not underestimate the talent you have.
